Making space in our busy lives…for the great outdoors.

The Family Bushcraft Weekend is an opportunity for your family to discover the beauty and secrets of nature- while developing their outdoor skills. Throughout the weekend, our staff will help support parents by assisting them in the setting up their tent and campsite, with meal preparation and yes, even with clean-up. We will provide entertaining and engaging educational programming for a variety of ages, interests and abilities, as well as an on-duty night-watchman- so you get a fighting chance at a good sleep.

Suitable for those who have never spent a night outdoors, our experienced instructors are available to help you on each step of your journey.

We also have cabin-style accommodation available for rent on site with beds, bedding and mattresses for those that might not be ready (or unable) to complete an over-night in a tent, as well as communal washroom facility with showers, a washer and flushing toilets for a more comfortable experience.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Building a Natural Shelter
  • Learning About the Local Wildlife
  • Tracking and Observation
  • Plants and Trees Are Useful
  • Campfire Storytelling
  • Learning Canadian Camp Songs
  • Craft Projects with Natural Materials
  • Sleeping Outdoors in a Tent (or Natural Shelter)

Prerequisit: none

Age requirement: All ages welcome. Children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Food:

The Timeless Journey Bush-Gourmet Chef will provide you with a detailed and nutritionally balanced menu plan in your booking confirmation. As long as you are willing to work with the food plan choice(s) provided (or at least use these ingrediants in making a meal of your own liking), you won’t need to buy, organize, bring or store any food- it’s all included in the price of the course.

In this course, everyone will be encouraged to participate in the preparation, cooking and clean-up of their own meals. In some cases, we may require some volunteers to help the Timeless Journey Bush-Gourmet Chef with the preparation or clean-up of a group meal.

Please let us know in your booking pack or feel free to contact the office if you have any special dietary requirements or allergies and we will try our very best to accommodate your requests. In the very rare case, where we are unable to find a comfortable solution that will meet your needs or values, you are welcome to supply, carry-in, store, prepare and cook your own food on our courses if you prefer. If you plan to exercise this option, please contact the office- so that we can inform you about our Timeless Journey Food Transport, Storage, Safety and Hygiene Policy.

At the base camp, we provide fresh organic fruit, homemade cookies, freshly baked bread, drinking water, tea and coffee.
