In the Coracle Boat Building Workshop, we will build, test and paddle one of the World’s most ancient forms of watercraft. Used in many different cultures- coracles are invariably made of a light weight, wooden frame with a water-resistant covering. Their delicate yet resilient construction and extremely shallow draught makes them an ideal boat for hike-in fishing trips, birding in marshlands, wildlife observation or just relaxing in nature and exploring BC’s many lakes and rivers.

Physical Requirement: You Must Be Able to Swim 15m in a Life Jacket PFD

DIY Skin-On-Frame Kayak Workshop (8 Days) • $1950.00

Course Details

A kayak is almost always a focus of pride. But if you have crafted it and tailored it to yourself from selected wood and canvas you will add depth and joy to that pride. These then are beautiful, enchanting creations that exude restlessness and spark fascination whether they are on the water, in a museum or under construction. Their creation is a magical journey of understanding, a communion through the ages to a distant time and of insight, and respect for a little understood and truly timeless culture. If your eyes don’t fairly sparkle with pride you may have your money back.

Fiberglass Canoe Repair (3 Days) • $380.00

Course Details

Modern, resin-based composites are wonderful…until they break. Then, they become a jagged, ugly mess that is seemingly impossible to repair. Well, we are not going to fix your boat for you- that is for you to do! However, we can teach you how to go about it. Our expertise with composites comes from the aircraft industry. Repairing the myriad problems in the aerospace world has given us a grounding in fixing bizarre and abstract damage to a wide variety of structures and materials. This is not to say your boat will not be a challenge, but we feel confident that by working together she will see the water again.
